Sheryl knows what it’s like to start from scratch. In 2009, at 26, she was made redundant during the GFC. Instead of looking for another corporate IT job, she took $2,000 and started baking cupcakes from her kitchen.
That kitchen experiment became Cupcake Central — growing to five stores across Melbourne with 75 staff. Along the way, she co-founded the League of Extraordinary Women, a community that empowered hundreds of female entrepreneurs across eight Australian cities.
After a decade of building, she exited Cupcake Central and followed a new passion: creating spaces where people feel at home. Today, through Airhomey, she manages a portfolio of thoughtfully styled short-stay properties across Melbourne’s inner west — bringing the same care, creativity, and community spirit to every guest experience.
